Texas Farm Products Company Receives AIB Rating
Texas Farm Products Company recently received a satisfactory
rating for its pet food manufacturing plant from the American Institute of Baking (AIB), a recognized monitor
of human food manufacturers.
“Texas Farm Products Company is one of a select number of pet
food manufacturers to voluntarily have its facilities scrutinized by the AIB and its standards for human food
grade production,” said Dennis Donovan, director of operations at Texas Farm Products Company. “Undergoing
AIB inspections proves our commitment to ensure the quality of the pet foods we manufacture.”
In its inspections, AIB evaluates food safety risks and compliance
to the criteria in AIB standards in the following areas: adequacy of food safety program, pest control,
operational methods and personnel practices, maintenance for food safety, and cleaning practices. The criteria
is established by combining good management principles including the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act; Good
Manufacturing Practices; and the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act. A rating method is used
to assign a numerical score and classification to the manufacturer.
Texas Farm Products Company conducts self-inspections of its
facilities on a daily basis. The company created the position of AIB coordinator to manage its AIB program, a
visible demonstration of Texas Farm Product Company’s commitment to producing quality products.
